Who is Takimu built for?+
Takimu is built for Kenyan schools that want a focused academic system for learners, attendance, assessments, reporting and parent communication.
How long does setup take?+
A school can create its workspace quickly, then add classes, staff and learners. Existing learner records can be imported from CSV to reduce manual entry.
Do we need special hardware?+
No. Takimu is browser-based and can be used from modern phones, tablets and computers with internet access.
What does KES 200 per learner cover?+
It covers the core Takimu academic workflow for one learner for one school term, including attendance, assessments, analysis, report cards, parent access and included school communication features.
Is there a setup fee?+
The standard school plan does not have a separate setup fee.
What if our school is very large?+
Large schools, school groups and institutions can contact Takimu for a tailored pricing and rollout arrangement.
Can we enable SMS notifications?+
Yes. Parent SMS notifications can be activated for important school updates. Availability and the messaging allowance are confirmed during setup.
Can we use both CBE and numeric results?+
Takimu supports competency-based and numeric assessment workflows so schools can manage the reporting approach appropriate to their curriculum and classes.
Can teachers see every class?+
Access is role-based. Teachers work with the classes and academic responsibilities assigned to them, while school leadership has broader visibility.
Can we generate report cards?+
Yes. Takimu generates school-branded report cards using the learner's academic and attendance information stored in the system.
Can we export our data?+
Authorized staff can export supported learner, attendance and results data for review, backup or other school needs.
Do parents need a staff account?+
No. Parents have a separate, focused portal linked only to their child or children.
What can parents see?+
Depending on the records available, parents can view results, attendance, report cards and school notices for linked learners.
Do parents pay separately?+
No. Parent portal access is part of the school's Takimu service.
Should marks be sent by SMS?+
Takimu is designed to use SMS for concise notifications such as reminders and alerts that results are ready. Detailed academic information is better kept in the secure parent portal.
Is each school's data separate?+
Yes. Takimu scopes school records to the relevant school workspace and applies role-based access within that workspace.
Who owns the school records?+
The school remains responsible for the academic records it enters or imports into Takimu.
