We built Takimu because school software should fit the school, not the other way around.

Kenyan schools have their own academic calendar, assessment methods, reporting expectations and day-to-day realities. Takimu is being built around those realities from the start.

Why Takimu exists

Academic work is often scattered across spreadsheets, paper records, individual computers and separate communication channels.

Attendance may be recorded in one place, marks in another, report cards prepared somewhere else, and parent updates handled separately. By the end of the term, staff are often spending too much time reconciling information instead of simply using it.

Takimu is designed to bring that work together.

From learner registration and daily attendance to assessment results, report cards and parent access, the goal is simple: reduce unnecessary administration and make academic information easier to manage throughout the term.

Built for Kenyan schools from the beginning

Takimu was not built as a generic school system and then adapted for Kenya.

It is designed around the three-term Kenyan school calendar, CBE and numeric assessment, school reporting workflows and the different responsibilities of owners, principals, teachers and parents.

That means schools do not have to change their academic processes just to fit the software.

Built with privacy and continuity in mind

Takimu separates school records by workspace and controls access according to user role.

Parents are linked only to the learners associated with them, teachers work within their assigned responsibilities, and school leaders retain broader administrative oversight.

Authorized staff can also export supported academic records, helping schools maintain continuity and control over their information.

Built in Kenya by Lucent Digital Creatives

Takimu is developed and operated by Lucent Digital Creatives, a Kenyan-registered digital business.

We build practical digital products around problems that can be made simpler through good software. Takimu is our school-management product, developed specifically around the needs of Kenyan schools rather than adapted from an overseas education system.

We are building Takimu deliberately: starting with the academic workflows schools rely on most, making those foundations solid, and expanding the platform as the product develops.
